Aides Written: 2026-07-25 13:26:47 / Updated: 2026-07-25 13:28:44 Share Print Photo : YONHAP News Justice Minister Jung Sung-ho, who reportedly tendered his resignation after the ruling Democratic Party(DP) decided to adopt as party line the abolition of the prosecution's right to supplementary investigations, says he had expressed such intent for some time. Speaking to KBS Saturday, Jung said though he had not directly discussed the matter with President Lee Jae Myung, he had previously delivered his intent to step down via presidential aides.

The minister, who has expressed concerns that scrapping the prosecution's right to conduct supplementary investigations could negatively affect the victims, is reported to have resigned by word of mouth. Jung is expected to formally submit his resignation once President Lee returns from his overseas tour of the U.S.

, South America and Germany early next month. The DP's decision is part of its drive to reform the prosecution, which is set to be replaced by two new agencies each tasked with handling investigations and indictments.
