Wildfires displace more than 250,000 in France, threaten famed wine region
The Gironde fire has burned 162 square miles as 2,500 firefighters and 1,500 soldiers battle the blaze advancing erratically toward Bordeaux.
More than a quarter-million people have been driven from their homes in southwest France as a massive wildfire barrels toward the famed wine capital of Bordeaux, with officials warning the fast-moving inferno has become so fierce it’s creating its own winds and behaving erratically.French authorities ordered another 55,000 people to evacuate overnight Sunday from communities south of Bordeaux, bringing the total number of evacuees in the region to about 250,000. Gusty winds, dry conditions and repeated heat waves have fueled a fire that has burned out of control since midweek.

Bordeaux Mayor Thomas Cazenave said the flames came within about 9 miles of the city, prompting officials to partially close a major highway into and out of the region.More than 2,500 firefighters, backed by 18 planes and helicopters, are working to slow the fire's advance. France has also deployed 1,500 soldiers to help clear vegetation and build firebreaks, while several European countries have sent aircraft and firefighting crews to assist.

조국혁신당이 신장식 의원을 신임 당대표로 선출했다. 신 대표는 수락 연설에서 “더불어민주당과의 연대와 통합 논의가 열려 있다”면서도 “민주당 일각의 적대적 M&A(인수·합병)식 합당 논의를 단호히 거부한다”고 했다. 신 대표는 조국 전 대표의 국회 입성 실패 이후 2~3%대 지지율에 그치고 있는 조국혁신당의 자강을 강조하며 2028년 총선 때 전국 곳곳에 자당 후보를 내겠다고 공약한 바 있다.
조합 이사장에 ‘뉴이재명’ 낙하산… 대의원들 반대로 선임 불발
전문건설공제조합이 지난 대선 때 이재명 대통령을 지지하며 국민의힘을 탈당한 이인기 전 의원의 이사장 선임안을 부결시킨 것으로 26일 확인됐다. 전문건설공제조합은 민간 기관이지만 이사장은 통상 관료나 정치인 출신들이 맡아왔다. 정치권 관계자는 “이런 자리는 윗선에서 정하는대로 결정되기 마련인데 뉴이재명 인사에 대한 반감 아니겠냐”고 했다.
金 “반명 몽땅 떨어뜨려야” 鄭 “명청대전은 멍청한 주장”
더불어민주당 당대표 후보들이 다음달 1일 첫 충청권 순회 경선을 앞두고 서로를 향한 비판 수위를 높이고 있다. 김민석 후보는 26일 공개적으로 친청계 최고위원 후보를 ‘반명(반이재명)’ 후보로 낙인찍고 “말로만 친명, 실제로는 반명하는 사람 몽땅 떨어뜨리고 위대한 전당대회를 만들자”고 했다. 반면 정청래 후보는 김 후보를 겨냥해 “‘명·청 대전’이 있다고 주장하는 것은 멍청한 짓”이라며 “이 대통령을 지킬 사람은 나”라고 했다.
